Title: “Lost Weekend NO-#6” New Orleans - 1986
Prior to 1988 drinking gave me the confidence to get outside of my comfort zone—but getting sober gave me the clarity to experience it.
It seems that every couple of months I ended up shitfaced and then boarded a plane to another city or country. The next morning, I’d play the part of detective. Winding back time, trying to figure out where and who was I with. It’s was like being transported to another planet yet can’t remember anything…it is time travel for drunks…….
These Lost Weekend series are from one of those transports.
The week started in San Francisco at the Fairmont Hotel, when I woke up I was with my girlfriend. I got up to take a leak and as I was heading to the bathroom glanced out the window “Whoops New Orleans how long and when did I get here” that was my silent calm usually panicked thought of those days. So now I have to figure out how long, and when did I get here, blackouts in the eighties a normal routine. Could not ask my girlfriend anything about not remembering, perhaps she has been having a great time and could now disappoint her by not remembering anything, so I asked her if she wanted to go out, these pictures were taken over the next few days as we discovered New Orleans. Shot with Canon AE-1, Kodak TRI-X 400.
